Growth Hormone Testing

Biochemical testing for growth hormone deficiency is fraught with difficulty in interpretation Perhaps the most significant problem is knowing the physiological status of growth secretion under the usual state of affairs. It is important to note that pharmacological testing may or may not represent what the patient normally is doing and that the patient may have neurosecretory dysfunction. On the other hand, failure to respond to provocative testing provides strong evidence for growth hormone deficiency.
